お疲れの週末は
平日のお仕事が忙しくて、
疲れて疲れてどうしようもない。
週末は、もうどこにも行かないで、
家でだら～っとゆっくりしたいときってありますよね。
そんなときにこの英語を使ってください。
アメリカだとよくホームパーティを開くのですが、
大勢呼んで音楽ガンガンかけて、
ビールも浴びるように飲んで踊って、
朝までそれをつづける
みたいなクレイジーなパーティとは
対極的に、
仲のよいメンバー数人を集めて、
ひっそりと夕飯をする。
ご飯を食べて、デザートとコーヒーを飲んだら
そそくさと家に帰る。
そんなひっそりとした時間をすごすパーティもあります。
冒頭で話したように、
ゆーっくりと家でだらだら過ごす状態、
あるいは、のんびりひっそりとしたパーティ、
こんな状態を表す英語があります。とても簡単ですよ。＾＾
low key
ローキー
っていうんです。
使い方は以下のような感じです。
I would like to keep it low key this weekend.
「今週はだらっとのんびりしていたいな」
I am going to throw a low key party this Friday.
「今週の金曜日はひっそりとしたパーティを開催する予定です」
体が疲れちゃって、一緒に仲間と騒げないときなんかに
使ってみてください。
I want to keep it low key tonight.
っていったらわかってくれますよ。^^
やんわり断るときにも使えますね。^^

Hi Kristin! I think if your car is big enough to sleep two comfortably, it’s definitely possible to just ditch the tent and sleep in sleeping bags. If your car is small, sleeping in cramped positions in the car for two weeks can be torturous. I personally do not like tents because pitching it and removing it everyday is a hassle to me. With sleeping bags, I can just chuck them in the back of the car without packing it until the end of the trip.
